Abstract

The article focuses on a financial literacy initiative aimed at empowering high school students in rural South Dakota. The Eastern South Dakota Perkins Consortium, with support from the Wells Fargo Financial Literacy Initiative and Southeast Technical College Foundation, launched a program to address the lack of financial education among students in 36 rural school districts. Led by Ryan Decker, the program provided engaging sessions on budgeting, credit, debt, and investing, reaching 380 students through a hybrid delivery model. The initiative demonstrated the importance of collaboration, flexibility, and practical content in enhancing students' financial knowledge and preparing them for postsecondary life.
