Abstract

The article argues that youth are already linguistic knowledge producers who actively use multiple languages, dialects, and digital platforms to shape identity, negotiate power, and theorize about language, and that educators must learn to truly listen to and value these practices. Topics include youth multilingualism and translanguaging as knowledge-making, identity construction through language and the need for educators to recognize and validate students' linguistic expertise.
