Abstract
In this paper I present the core arguments of my book True Purposes in Hegel's Logic. In particular, I develop Hegel's case for teleology as the truth of mechanism, which is central to his discussion of teleology and the objectivity of purposiveness in his philosophical logic. I briefly relate Hegel's views to contemporary approaches to mechanism and mechanical explanation in order to facilitate a fair evaluation. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
