Abstract

The article discusses the potential use of geothermal power stations to prevent the Yellowstone supervolcano from causing a civilization-ending eruption. By extracting heat from the magma chambers beneath the supervolcano, these power stations could generate electricity while cooling the chambers to prevent an eruption. However, the project would face significant technical challenges and legal obstacles due to environmental regulations that currently prevent the exploitation of Yellowstone's geothermal resources.
